Awakening To God App Review

phoneWe always seem to be on the go as a family.  I have a teenager who is very busy with school and after school activities.  I teach so I am very busy as well.  My husband works nights so we have a hard time finding time as a family to do anything.  I did not want our busy schedules to come in between our Bible studies.  The one thing all of our family members have is our phones.   I was offered the opportunity to review the app Awakening to God .  I was excited to have the opportunity to try this app.

About the app:

A devotional journal to help you enjoy your walk with God, with thanksgiving from your heart, everyday touches and prayers. Inspiration for 8 minutes with God at the start of your day, learning to hear His voice, memorize scripture, pray and journal. Lots of great ideas to build your faith, share scripture, encourage others and strengthen family devotions.

Purpose of the app:

to inspire and encourage thousands of people in their walk with Christ (hopefully, leading to another ‘Awakening’ – see 2 Chron 7:14)

My Opinion on the app:

I love the app.  It is something that only takes 8 minutes a day to grow closer to God.  I like that it is on my phone and I always have my phone with me.  No matter what I have to do that day I know I can still get my daily devotional in.   I like the journal aspect of it, so I can write my feeling down and what I think God is telling me that day and I can always look back on the past days to see what was going on that day.

5 Groundhog Day Activities

February 2 is going to be a fun day in Preschool classrooms.  It is grounds hog day.  Here are my top 5 Grounds hog day activities to do with my students

  1.  One of the big things with this holiday “Will the Groundhog see is shadow? ” What better way to start the unit to ask the students if they think the groundhog will see his shadow.   After you ask the question graph the results.  Then you can count and use more or less will-he-see-his-shadow

2.  Ground hog paper plate The kids will love to paint this plate to make it look like  groundhog.  The supplies are easy and most likely have in your craft supplies. groundhog-paper-plate-craft

3.  Putting Your Toes into it. What parent does not love hand and foot prints.  groundhog-24. Groundhog day Printable. This is 6 page printable that includes class surveys, word hunt and more. cupcake

5.  Pudding Cups What a great way to end the unit, with chocolate pudding cups and Pepperidge farm cookies.pudding

“W” Activity for Preschoolers

Our Letter of the week this week is “W”, so we made a Watermelon.

Materials Needed:

Print the letter W off on Red and Green construction paper

W activity 1

Then layer the W’s  with the red W on top of the Green W with some of the green showing to be the rine of the watermelon.

Then allow the students to paint the “seeds” on the watermelon using their fingers.

Once the seeds are painted on the finial project looks like this;

The kids loved painting and  it was a very simple project to complete.  I have younger children so I always do fingerpainting projects one on one.  This gives me a chance to talk about the letter.  What is looks like, things that start with the letter and the sound that it makes.

Parents love anything that has their child’s fingerprints, so this was also a hit with the parents as well.  I hope you enjoy this activity with your students.
